Learnerships
A learnership is a structured, work-based learning programme that is directly related to a specific occupation and takes place over a period of 12 months that leads to a nationally recognized qualification and experience. Learnership programmes award individuals an opportunity to gain work experience in a designated career and simultaneously allows them to obtain their formal qualification.
Internships
An internship is a professional on the job learning experience that offers meaningful, practical and sustainable work related experience to students with relation to their designated professions. Through internships, students are exposed to a working environment to learn new skills, exercise possible inventions and bring new ideas to entities. This way the students can be able to explore their careers and gradually develop in their fields.
Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship is a system for training practioners of a trade or profession with on the job training and theoretical classroom study to enable practitioners to gain their licenses to practice in a regulated occupation.
Artisan Recognition to Prior Learning
ARPLs are programmes where an individual’s prior learning can be formally recognized in terms of registered qualifications and unit standards with no regards to whether the learning was done in a formal educational institution or the skill was attained normally.
